Good-bye, twenties! It was fun while it lasted :)
Well, hello Thirty. Let's get this party started!
It's been a good day so far. The hubby and kids let me sleep in a bit, then woke me up with birthday oatmeal with a candle. J made my coffee in my ultimate favorite mug and let me enjoy my breakfast in bed solo. Sounds great, right? Thankfully, I had my morning caffeine before my four-year-old puked in my lap. In my bed. All over me, her and my bed. She managed to avoid the clean laundry piled at the foot of bed, so yay for small favors. So far, she's been fine. Too much juice on an empty stomach is no bueno, I guess. And the baby's been a little cuddlebug all morning. Gotta love motherhood.
I've puttered around most of the day and it's been lovely. We're all getting over a bit of a cold, and while that put a damper on the weekend plans, it's been nice to be home and all together. I got to lounge in bed (after removing all the bedclothes) and read my new favorite blog, www.sherylyvette.com. She rocks and really inspires me, so it was great to have an hour or so to read uninterrupted. In fact, I got up and went for a run! Yay for the first run of my thirties! I've been plugging along with a 0-5k training program with some app my hubby bought, and today I ran a total of 16 out of 32 minutes. It's the longest run (2.21 miles) I've done since Bay-to-Breakers in May and it felt gooooood. It gave me a chance to think about my last decade and start planning what my thirties are going to look like.
So here's a rundown on the last ten years (not necessarily in chronological order):
* I quit smoking (ok, I was 19, but still, big deal)
* I got off my anti-depressants
* I moved ten times
* I lived in five different cities
* I met the man of my dreams and married him!
* I earned a bachelor's degree
* I had a couple of jobs I really liked and a couple I hated
* I sold my gas guzzler before gas prices went sky-high (!!!!!)
* I had two fabulous baby girls who rock my world daily
* I lost a couple of very important people along the way
* I mended a couple of relationships that bring me joy now
* I found my passion in life and am doing all I can to feed that love (sewing)
* I became a runner
* I ran Bay-to-Breakers twice
* I bought a duplex with my hubby and my little brother
* I conquered postpartum depression twice (thank you, feet!)
I love that list. I see all the ups and downs along the way and am thankful for every minute. I'm excited for what's to come :)
Now, off to go buy new running shoes with my birthday money.
